What you need to know about tipping

You are finally on your vacation that you’ve been planning for months. You get on that airport shuttle with your bags and think- should I tip? And how much?! Tipping is entirely your discretion, but as a good rule of thumb, check out the guide below. Please note, this guide is for the United States, if you are travelling to another country, these guidelines would change.


Airport Shuttle Driver: $5 per bag or less

Private Driver: 15% of the fare

Restaurant Servers and Bartenders: 15%-20% of the total bill

Boat Driver: 15% of total fare

Spa: 15%-20% of services

Pool Staff: 15% if you ordered something, otherwise $5

Doorman: $3

Bellman: $3-$5 per bag if just bringing them to your room

Valet: $3-$5

Housekeeping: $5-$10 a day

Concierge: $10 or less, unless they were able to secure tickets to a sold out show or something more unique

Tour Guide- 10-15% of the total fare
